Our Community Empowerment Program is designed to ensure that every journey through Rwanda and Uganda contributes positively to local communities, cultural preservation, and sustainable economic growth.

Kinigi Women Village Community Empowerment.
Located in the heart of Musanze near Volcanoes National Park and opposite the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Museum, Kinigi Women Village is a community initiative dedicated to empowering vulnerable women and transforming lives through sustainable tourism and craftsmanship.
Founded in June 2024, the initiative began with only 11 single mothers who shared a common vision of creating better opportunities for themselves and their families. Today, the village has grown into a powerful community of 104 single mothers working together to build brighter futures through creativity, unity, and cultural preservation.
At Kinigi Women Village, women gather daily in organized shifts to engage in a variety of traditional and artistic activities that showcase the rich culture and craftsmanship of Rwanda. These activities include wood carving of gorillas, walking sticks, and wildlife sculptures, basket weaving, tailoring, thread art, handmade jewelry, cow horn products, paintings, and other unique handmade crafts inspired by Rwanda’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The village also offers visitors authentic cultural experiences through traditional entertainment, storytelling, warm hospitality, and welcoming Rwandan coffee experiences that allow travelers to connect meaningfully with the local community.
One of the most inspiring aspects of Kinigi Women Village is its commitment to accessibility and community engagement. All activities and cultural experiences offered at the center are free of charge for visitors. However, donations are highly appreciated and play a vital role in helping the initiative continue its mission of supporting single mothers, vulnerable women, and underprivileged families within the local community.
The purchase of handmade crafts and artwork directly contributes to improving the lives of these women and their families. Every basket, carving, bracelet, painting, or handmade souvenir purchased represents more than just a beautiful piece of art — it represents hope, empowerment, dignity, and opportunity for a single mother striving to create a better future.
