DAY 1 – THE RETREAT / Kigali – Bed and Breakfast – 

Arrival and transfer to The Retreat Hotel for an overnight. Our tour guide will meet you at the airport upon arrival and transfer you to The Retreat, check in your room and dinner, overnight stay.

DAY 2 - RETREAT / Kigali City Tour, Full Day - Bed & Breakfast -

your city tour is  to immerse you in the country’s rich history, culture, and modern charm. Begin your journey at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful place of remembrance and reflection. Continue to the bustling Kimironko Market, where colorful stalls overflow with fresh produce, crafts, and local life. Wander through leafy neighborhoods and stop by art collectives like NIYO ART & GALLERY to meet talented young artists shaping Rwanda’s creative scene. Enjoy a delicious local lunch before exploring iconic landmarks such as the Presidential Palace Museum and the historic Nyamirambo district, known for its lively streets and cultural diversity. Your day wraps up with a scenic drive through Kigali’s rolling hills, showcasing why it’s celebrated as one of Africa’s cleanest and most welcoming cities. This tour offers the perfect blend of education, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

DAY 3 – THE BISHOPS HOUSE / Volcanoes National Park – Fully Inclusive – Today your drive guide will pick you up from the REATREAT as we check out and drive direct to  THE BISHOPS HOUSE  in the Volcanoes National Park where you will be having lunch and stay for the next 3 nights. After lunch your drive guide will drive you Ellen campus of Diana Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn and  understand of mountain gorilla conservation and the legacy of Dr. Dian Fossey. Through interactive exhibits, educational displays, and behind-the-scenes insights, you’ll learn about the science and daily work that goes into protecting gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park. After your visit then you will be driven back to THE BISHOPS HOUSE for the evening free.

DAY 4 – THE BISHOP HOUSE / Volcanoes National Park – Fully Inclusive – After an early breakfast you will be taken to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters where you will receive your briefing and prepare for your gorilla trek. Tracking mountain gorillas through the dense African forests is a magical experience. Typically, tracking can take from 3 to 8 hours round trip. After your trek you will drive back to lodge and have an afternoon free.

DAY 5 – KYAMBULA GORGE LODGE / Queen Elizabeth National Park – Fully Inclusive –

Today again after your breakfast you will get ready for the drive from THE BISHOPS to KYAMBULA GORGE LODGE. You will be picked up again by your driver guide drive to the board of Rwanda & Uganda (CYANIKA BOARDER) to cross as we drive and check in at your new lodge in Queen Elizabeth for the wildlife experience. you will drive approximately 6hrs from Rwanda to your Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.​

DAY 6 - Kyambula Gorge Lodge  / QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK - Fully inclusive - 

Your adventure begins with sunrise and sunset game drives across the sweeping plains of Uganda’s most iconic national park. At dawn, the Kasenyi savannah bursts into life—this is prime predator country. Majestic lions perch proudly on vantage points, surveying their kingdom, while elusive leopards glide silently through the tall grasses. Herds of elephants and buffalo roam the landscape with quiet authority, and the plains shimmer with elegant antelopes like topi, bushbuck, and the striking Uganda kob. If fortune favors you, the shy yet magnificent giant forest hog may make a rare appearance.

As the day melts into a warm golden glow, your journey continues on the legendary Kazinga Channel. Glide through calm waters on a magical boat safari as elephants gather at the shoreline, hippos rumble in their pods, and crocodiles soak in the last light along the banks. With a little luck, you may even catch a lion or leopard slipping down to the water for a drink as dusk settles over the channel.

DAY 7  - Kyambula Gorge Lodge / QUEEN ELITHABETH NATIONAL PARK - Fully inclusive - 

Your final day in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a grand finale showcasing the very best of Uganda’s wilderness. Set out early for a full-day game drive, venturing deep into the diverse landscapes that make this park so extraordinary—from open savannah plains to acacia woodlands and sparkling crater lakes. As the sun rises, the plains come alive with activity. Lions may be on the move after a night of hunting, while leopards retreat to the shade of ancient trees. Towering elephants roam gracefully, buffalo herds trek across the horizon, and playful baboons and vervet monkeys chatter from the treetops.

As the day unfolds, follow winding tracks in search of topi, bushbuck, waterbuck, and the iconic Uganda kob grazing peacefully across the plains. Keep your camera ready—this park never fails to surprise. Break for a relaxing picnic lunch at one of the scenic viewpoints, where sweeping vistas stretch far into the Rift Valley.

In the afternoon, continue your exploration as the soft golden light illuminates the landscape. Watch hippos wallow in hidden waterholes, spot colorful birds perched along the track, and savor the peaceful rhythm of the bush. As the sun dips and your final game drive comes to an end, reflect on a day filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters and the timeless beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park, an experience that will stay with you long after you leave Uganda.

DAY 8 - Turaco Tree Tops / KIBALE NATIONAL FOREST - Fully inclusive -

After breakfast, you’ll depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and enjoy a scenic 2–3 hour drive through rolling countryside, tea estates, and small vibrant villages as you make your way to Kibale National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at the beautiful Turaco Treetops Lodge, where a delicious lunch awaits. The lodge sits on the edge of the forest canopy, offering sweeping views and the chance to spot playful monkeys right from your terrace. In the evening, you may choose to unwind with a nature walk around the lodge, enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool, or simply relax with a drink while listening to the forest come alive. For those seeking a bit more adventure, optional activities like a guided bird walk or a visit to the nearby crater lakes can also be arranged.

DAY 9 - Turaco Tree Tops / KIBALE NATIONAL FOREST - Fully inclusive -

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Kibale visitor center by 7:30 am for your unforgettable chimpanzee trekking adventure. Kibale Forest—Africa’s primate capital—bursts with life, from the rare L’Hoest’s monkey and vibrant red colobus to playful blue monkeys and baboons. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll follow signs through the forest until you come face-to-face with a habituated chimpanzee troop, an intimate encounter that may last a few hours. After lunch, continue your exploration with a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where boardwalks lead you through a lush haven home to over 138 bird species and several primate species, completing a day of rich discovery.

DAY 10 – Papyrus Guesthouse / ENTEBBE AIRPORT – OWN BILL -

Your final day on this unforgettable Rwanda & Uganda safari begins with the peaceful charm of Uganda’s rural highlands. After breakfast, enjoy a last lingering look at the misty hills before doing  drive to Entebbe. As you soar over rolling hills, volcanic peaks, and patchwork farmlands, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on the incredible experiences of your journey. For onward travel, we recommend booking an international flight later in the day; alternatively, if you prefer a slower pace or have an early departure tomorrow, you can settle into the cozy Papyrus Guesthouse for one final night in Entebbe—an ideal base for souvenir shopping, a relaxed meal, or a quiet afternoon before heading home.

  • This itinerary is priced per person (based on travel in June 2025), which averages out  per day of service.

 

  • Included at THE RETREAT: accommodation, breakfast and 1x welcome massage per guest (30mins massage and subject to availability) and onsite 30 mins cultural activities (Cocktail making, Local drumming & dance class, banana wine demo, cooking class - to be booked in advance).
